BOX & PLAY
With eleven inner boxes held in a slender outer box, Box & Play is a bespoke rectangular cabinet inspired by the 18th century trompe l’oeil painting ‘Nature morte aux oiseaux exotiques’ by Alexandre-Isidore Leroy de Barde. The original painting, which is in the collection of the Louvre in Paris, can be seen here.

The cabinet pictured here was made in plain and fumed oak, the latter giving it a contrasting shade. The individual boxes can be pulled forwards for a 3-dimensional effect or can be rearranged in different configurations. The cabinet can be mounted in portrait or landscape orientation.
